Anyone ever worked in a jewellery shop ??

Local shop has 2 ads up, one for 15 hours and one for 37.5.

As stupid as it sounds, if i could get them to change the 15 hours to 16 hours, i'd be better off doing 16 hours than 37.5 cos of my rent etc.

Anyway am waffling again, so anyone ever done it ??

Oh and i have to go in to the shop to collect a form, do i mention about them making the 15 hours 16 there and then or wait and see if i get an interview ??

I had a saturday job in Ratners when I was 16. It was great. I loved the couples coming in to choose engagement rings

I think I would love it too, i remember trying to get a YTS placement in a jewellery shp when I left school, ended up in Bewise LOL.

My only concern is that it might be a bit quiet and slow, as the shop always seem pretty dead when I walk past.

My brothers girlfriend is actually a manager of a jewellery shop, but I can't get hold of her to pick her brains.

If they would up it to 16 hours it would be great. Also it says wage will increas after 6mths

Not sure of exact hours, it just says between Mon - Sat and between 8.45 and 5pm, should I ask what the possible hours are when i pick up the form or leave that until interview too ?

Theres always something to do NM. Deliverys, orders, checking stock, clenaing the jewellery, doing the displays, jewellery repairs and not to mention serving the customers.

Sometimes you can be sat with customers for hours picking the right thing. Especially couples for engagement rings or bewildered men

I loved doing it (worked for BeaverBrooks). Can be lethal though working around all that jewellery though

Ok you've convinced me, will pick up a form tommorow.

It's working at Goldsmiths by the way.

Fingers crosed everyone please, I really need this job at the mo as finances are about as shite as they could be.
