My dd is leaving her nursery at the end of July i was just wondering is it the norm to buy something for the nursery. They did say that they will be doing a farewell tea for her.I was just wondering what other parents did. Also ds will be starting in September

At our pre-school, parents often buy something small for the child's keyworker, esp if you know them quite well- flowers, chocs etc. Or a nice box of biscuits for all the staff to share goes down well. If you wanted something more permanent, a book for the book corner or a puzzle.

My DD left her nursery last week after being there for nearly 2 years. I did buy gifts for the nursery and staff as we have been so happy with the nursery.

We bought the nursery a present for the children to us: a whole range of ELC outdoor toys including:

  • Cricket set
  • 2 tennis rackets
  • Egg and spoon race toys (has 4 sets inside)
  • Soft mini balls pack (3 balls - rugby, football, basketball)
  • 2 x skipping ropes
  • pack of 4 bean bags
  • 2 packs of foam tennis balls (3 balls in each pack).

Spent £20 at ELC using their 3 for 2 offer to get more for our money.

I also bought the staff two big boxes of chocolates to share.

I just hope the weather clears up this summer so the children manage to get out outside using them lots. At least some are soft enough for indoor play too.

DD has been at the nursery since she was 21 weeks and they had really played a huge part in her developement. Never had any trouble there at all, and very sad to be leaving really. I just hope DD's new nursery (moved her to one close to home rather than close to work for various reasons) is as good.
