Can you work, say , one day a month, throughout your maternity leave ?

I was just wondering.
I have looked at previous threads and also, on the suggested webpage:
wwww.maternity alliance,
but there was only a posting about doing a small amount of work for another employer, not your main employer.

You could have all your pay, be it only 12 days work, included in your pay, upon return to work, right ?

If you were, for example, pregnant - which I am not, buy the way.
And you were looking forward to the arrival of your little one.
There is one aspect of your job, that not only could no one else really do, but that you actually wanted to do yourself.

And that required going into the office one day a month.

Could you do it?
Mentally.
Would it be worth it money wise?

If I enjoyed it, and wouldn't lose out on any maternity pay, then yes, I probably would.

You can't for the first couple of weeks though - legally I think

Cheers Oxygen. Does it make financial sense ?

Actually, I don't think you can. It counts as a return to work and your maternity leave ends immediately

I think from april you could if you only took 10 months maternity leave

" Work during maternity leave period
12A. ?(1) Subject to paragraph (5), an employee may carry out up to 10 days' work for her employer during her statutory maternity leave period without bringing her maternity leave to an end.

(2) For the purposes of this regulation, any work carried out on any day shall constitute a day's work.

(3) Subject to paragraph (4), for the purposes of this regulation, work means any work done under the contract of employment and may include training or any activity undertaken for the purposes of keeping in touch with the workplace.

As Fannyannie says it is possible up to a maximum of 10 days under the new maternity leave rules. They are classed as keeping up to date days.

Other than that no, it is not possible.
