Hi
The title says it all really I was off in July for 2 weeks and now I'm off currently with an awful flu that seems to be giving me awful fatigue. I'm so worried about work and what they will say and my collegues making digs at me for being of sic k so much. My gp so far has told me to quarantine myself as I obviously have the flu. I've also recently been diagnosed with oesteoarthritis in my neck and I already have it in my lower back so I need to go back to my gp about that and request an mri. I also have a mental health condition which work don't know about. I'm just so worried but at the same time I'm genuinely ill. It's a huge company and I know I'm covered by their policies it's just my line manager and departments attitudes I'm stressed so much now.

Last year I got through the year with I think 3 days off total so they are off my record now.

Any advice please

Is this or the July period certified by GP. Did you get a sick note? Usually up to 7day self certifying, then GP. If it is certified then its on the instructions of the GP. No problem. Dont stress yourself and make yourself more ill.

Hi yes the July period is Dr certified. I can self cert this week I just feel so stressed about it and I don't know why. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply.

I feel so anxious about it. Like it's going to be held against me in some way and then at the same time I'm worried about why I keep getting ill.

Try not to stress about it, easier said than done i know, but honestly I can’t see a problem.

As for your mental health condition maybe you should speak to your HR. The Mental Health Act protects people from being discriminated against because of certain protected characteristics, such as gender, age or disability. Employers must make reasonable adjustments which may include reasonable adjustments to the usual threshold for the amount of sick days.

Or if you’re not comfortable with speaking to HR then seek advice from

Sod your colleagues pettiness.

Get yourself better and get some support. Smile

Thank you so much for that link I never knew any of that information. I'm going to try and see my Dr tomorrow discuss this with him.
