How do I broach this?

2 months ago I handed in my notice at work.
I had another job to go to, less money but more hours so I would have been slightly better off financially it was more a job where I would have felt more appreciated.
Anyway my work offered me a substantial pay rise to stay.
I agreed asked if I should sign a new contract, was told no that if I did that I would lose all my benefits I had built up over year my boss would put it through as a pay rise.
Anyway it's been 2 months & no pay rise.
How do I ask what is going on .
It feels awful to have to go basically begging for my extra wage & how can I get what im owed back dated.

did they make their offer in writing? Email whoever made the offer and refer to it, asking them to check with payroll as the instruction has not yet been activated and now needs backdating two months (as do pension contributions, if applicable). WHy so nervous about getting your salary paid to you?!

Not in writing. It was all verbal which is why I asked for a new contract.
I suffer quite badly from anxiety and it always sends me to pieces if I have to speak to people in charge.
I have already had to spk with payroll this month over issues on their part so already on this month's wage they are having to pay me money owed
I guess I feel like I'm being a pain & I don't like feeling that way.

You wouldn't need a whole new contract for a pay rise, or for any other change to your job, just a letter of confirmation is fine.

If you want your payrise you are going to have to speak to your boss I'm afraid. You need to say that it's been two months and your new salary hasn't been implemented yet, can he/she please check with payroll to find out what the delay is and let you know.
