Query about what to disclose to prospective employer

Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me. I've been offered a position in a school within the Administration team.
This week I have received from the Courts a County Court claim for a road accident I had earlier this year. A woman reversed into me, however she is saying I bumped into her. So, she has put in a claim....my insurance are contesting the claim and I may have to go to Court to put my case forward. Is this the type of thing that is classed as a Criminal Conviction which I need to disclose to the Head Teacher?

A road traffic accident of the nature you describe is a civil matter, heard in a civil court, not in a criminal court. There is no need to declare your case or its circumstances to a prospective employer. Be prepared to book a day's annual leave though (as a preexisting day's leave) if the case coincides with your new employment.

If you had left the scene of an accident and failed to leave your details or if you had knocked down a pedestrian, then you would need to declare these types of criminal offences.

Thank you for the information, much appreciated. It's my first job for a very long time, I've been home looking after my 2 children for the last 6 years, I just didn't want to mess anything up! xx
