Resigning and working notice period

Hi
Am in a fairly senior position with 6 months notice on each side. Job is really getting me down and notice period could be an issue with a new job. Was thinking of resigning and working the 6 months then looking for something new part way through that period maybe temping for a while

I would def be paid the 6 months wouldn't I? Just don't want to lose income through some twist I don't know about

Thanks in advance

How long have you beem there? Presumably you will give the required notice and work it if you're expected to? If so I see no reason wjy you wouldn't be paid.

Hi
Two years. Just wondered, if me leaving went down badly which it will, if there was any loophole where it could be decided I could be let go earlier with less pay before I found something....

As long as you work your notice or are fully able and prepared to work it (ie not temping elsewhere), then you'll be paid it. if you want to be released earlier and your employer agrees to that, obviously you won't be paid from the date you are released. If your employer wants to terminate your employment earlier than that, the only way to do without having to pay you the six months would be to dismiss you for gross misconduct and therefore not have to pay you any notice. Or, if their notice period is less than six months, and they had a fair reason for dismissing you, they could dismiss you giving whatever their notice period is. But I assume neither of those is the case, therefore as long as you are willing and able to work your notice period, you'll get paid it.
