Sheffield nursery help

I am looking for a nursery in the Sheffield S8 area, or nearby. I live in Greenhill and I am currently considering the following 3 nurseries.

Little Angels - on Bochum Parkway
The Little School House - woodseats
and Kids Unlimited - Archer Road (over from Sainsburys)

just wondered if anyone out there has good or bad experience of these nurseries or info on any other good ones. as mothers we all know that word of mouth on these things are as valuable as any if not more than any brochures or visits can be.
My DS is 11 months but will be 1 year by the time he starts, he is very clingy to me and that is why we have decided nursery may be a good idea so he can become accustomed to not being with mummy all the time. Even if someone can recommend an excellent childminder as we may consider that also. But thought a nursery may be more social, however with a childminder they are more likely to get one on one attention. ANy advice or info on nurseries or childminders would be great.

Hi Parents,
Nanny available with childcare experience (newborn - 10 yrs old). Available for live-in (anywhere in UK) or Daily (West Yorkshire, Greater Manchester, Merseyside).

Please email [email protected]

Hi Anna

If you want to advertise on Mumsnet you must first contact the MN team in charge and pay a small fee for the privlege. Once done then I am sure you'll be made very welcome here.

i think my friends sends her little boy to the kids unlimited, and she is very happy (is it the one that teaches babysign?) i can ask around at work because i think that they may use some of the others. We are currently using one in Broomhall which we love. there are lots of sheffield mums around so i'm sure someone will be able to help

Cheers katzguk, i am thankfully not limited to the S* area as I am not actually returning to work yet, just to try and get some peace and give him some independence, if all goes well then I intend to slowly increase the hours and evetually return to part time work, probably in the city centre as before so somewhere near home or central would be best. Thanks for saying you will ask around.

the nursery we use is the University Nursery but it's not restricted to university staff, but it is small and has a waiting list, but it is close to the city centre.

Hi summermum. We are in Sheffield too. I don't know a great deal about the nurseries you have mentioned as they are a bit too far from us. We have just been looking and have found a new nursery in Sheffield for our DD as I am moving work. DD is 2y3m but started at nursery at 21 weeks.

We have now opted for Creative Kids nursery which is based in the YMCA in Broomhall - so very central. We reallylike the look of it. It is pretty small and friendly, has great big outdoor area, has nice indoor rooms and a soft play room too. Also provides home cooked meals each day. And is very competitievly priced.

We phoned/wrote to several and asked for prospectuses, etc. And shortlisted from there.

cheers hullababy, i have got a few prospectuses as well. I am going to arrange to go for looks around them, but sometimes wonder if it is best to drop in as you can catch them more natural. Finding care your happy with is such a problem as it is so important at this age and you feel rally bad if you get it wrong. Can anyone tell me what Makaton is as a few prospectuses we have got say staff are able to use MAkaton (is this sign language?)

Yes, Makaton is a form of baby signing I think. There are a few threads on MN about it I should think.

Got the prospectus today from Kids inlimited. Although it looks very good it will be no good at the moment as you must commit to one full or 2 half days straight away. I only want one half day at the oment to see how DS2 copes with it, then think of slowly increasing time over 4-5 months so I can consider going back to work (aah the pull of the real world)
