Work related stress - not sure what GP should put on cert

Hi all,
I'm new here so hope I am posting in the correct place
I am in my current job almost 6 years. In this time we have gone through a number of aqqusitions and change! Pre pregnancy I found the environment and pressure unbearable so as you can imagine now that I'm over 5 months I am truly unable to cope. With this throw in management stating I'm not doing enough and a open hr case against a male colleague for unacceptable behaviour I am at the point of breakdown.

I suffer with wild anxiety which I can normally keep under control but that is all out the window now

I have an appointment with my GP in a few days. He is aware of the stress situation and recently certed me off for 2 weeks rest. He wanted to put work related stress on the note but I asked to put illness on it as I didn't want to have HR asking questions and wanting to follow up once I returned about work stress

My question if doctor this time suggests rest leave again do I get work related stress on the note or pregnancy illness?
Whatever I decide I want to be sure it doesn't start my maternity leave early, affect my mat pay or have further dealings with HR if I go the stress route. Thanks in advanceStar

Surely HR should be involved at this stage ? They need to know ?

Or are they as useless as my HR ?

It's not fair to ask gp to lie on a legal document. They can into serious trouble for this.
If work is so stressful you cannot do it then you need to be honest with your employer. How do you expect them to know and makes changes if you don't?

HR are involved with the unacceptable behaviour case
I have highlighted the pressure of workload and frequent task priority changing to management but they don't want to know about it.

I am trying to keep as stress free as possible. And just looking for the best advice on how to survive work until my Mat leave as a I am at breaking point.I want to continue to work up to my leave date. I don't want to certed out idle at home I want to keep my work life routine but it's proving very difficult

Teacup I also agree that the note from the GP should be honest, it's likely your employer will refer to Occ Health and even if they don't care calls etc will look to discuss the reason for absence. Honesty is best

I can't see that the work situation will become worse if your employer knows it is making you ill. If anything it should make them a bit more aware and responsive, but it shouldn't make anything worse. At the very least, you are then giving them reasonable opportunity to put things right in terms of how it is affecting your health.

I am currently going through similar so can empathise! I really think you should have the doctor's note state "work related stress" as it doesn't sound like your HR team/manager are being helpful or taking the issues seriously. Perhaps if they see that a doctor has confirmed that it's work related stress they might do something about it?
