NHS banding query

Hi all

I am 3 months into a new role, my manager has advised that those in similar posts are all on Band 5, my post is Band 4, apparently they did put in for a Band 5 but the Trust pushed it down to a 4 so that it was consistent with other posts internally, despite it being a unique service. My role is new and I am currently working on pulling together policies and guidelines, for example my manager did a one page outline list and I did some further research and worked it into a 6/7 page document, does this seems right for a band 4 post?? If you think it is reasonable how soon would you broach the subject of rebanding??

Honestly OP I am relatively new to NHS and can't believe the clinical responsibilities I have on band 3 pay. If they have decided the post is band 4 they're not going to increase it. They seem to want to spend only on qualified healthcare professionals which stands to reason unless you're the one being paid peanuts for the donkey work.

Do you have a qualification?
As far as I know from b5 up are qualified posts
In my team, clinical, all the b4's work to a very high level. The pay scale overlaps with b5 and they would be expected to work to a less experienced b5 level
B5's usually carry out tasks that are b6 level once experienced
What does your job description say

There are very few Band 5 for A&C staff, something I too have issue with as there is little to no career progression.

Band 5 is the starter band for qualified clinical staff.

I think it varies so much everywhere. Band 3's in my dept do very basic tasks yet I see band 2 jobs advertised for maternity assistants assisting labour and post natal responsibilities.

I thought band 5 was degree level so after qualifying as a nurse, physio etc
