Flexible Self Employment

Not sure if this is the right place, but I am looking for some ideas for flexible working, I own a small business at the moment, but looking to semi-retire in the next few years. My OH and I would like to travel, but also have a small income. I a quiet happy to retrain, I had thought of learning French Polishing so that I could take commissions, but still be able to travel in-between. Does anyone have a similar job or any ideas of something I could learn over the next couple of years that would give me flexibility in the future.

Doesn't it depend on your actual skills?

I mean I teach organic horticulture but it took me years to learn and get the quals/experience to do so.

That's it, I don't really have any skills as such although I am very practical I like DIY and recycling furniture and that sort of thing. That's why I thought of French polishing, I just wondered if anyone new of any gaps in the market along those lines.

Trouble with doing something that you're good at which is on a small scale, is that when you try to scale-up for a business it becomes less enjoyable because you have to do the [whatever] to a timeframe and to a customer spec. My point is that I don't think it's as easy in reality as it is in theory.

This said from experience of trying to do crafts as a business (years ago) and how it changed from an enjoyable pursuit to a chore very quickly and I made diddlesquat in profit!
