A friend of mine has recently got into pyramid selling with tropic skincare, I am worried as I haven't heard good things about these schemes, has anyone else had any experience with this company?

It is a pyramid scheme, and the products aren't great. She'll find out for herself soon enough. I bought some at a party oncec I. got sucked in by the 'natural products' with no best before date being the reason they couldn't be stocked in stores. Until I found the best before date on the bottom of my cleanser.

Tropic is fine. It's direct selling / mlm / network marketing, sure, but there's really nothing wrong with that. I think tropic is expensive and I can make my own stuff like that because the ingredients are so simple, but I wouldn't worry. She wont have to buy stock or anything. People place orders through her after she shows them and she delivers them their stuff. Pyramid schemes don't involve a product, just cash. These are illegal.

FFS, where do even START with that sort of mentality. There is everything wrong with MLM as anyone with half a brain knows.

Tropic is not a MLM company but a direct sales company. There is a difference and you have been given incorrect information as all products have a bb date. These are not in shops because they contain no preservatives so their dates do not have a long shelf life so unable to be put into shops

C4tintherug · 01/10/2020 11:30

What a load of rubbish about why they can’t be sold in shops! How do you think shops sell food ( very short shelf life).
The only reason they have this sales model is that then the people doing the selling become the customers. It makes them money. The people at the top get richer. Don’t be fooled into thinking it’s for any other reason other than money.

Hoppinggreen · 01/10/2020 18:10

It is an MLM , BUT I actually do like the products and they are good for my DD who won’t use products tested on animals
I buy it from a local lady but have made it very clear I will never have a party or sell or endorse her products in any way
As for the short shelf life I think Lush seems to manage ok

Tropic Skincare is not a pyramid scheme.
A pyramid scheme is a way to sell products which are usually very cheaply made and sold at an expensive price.
You often have unachievable targets to reach in a pyramid scheme, expensive start up costs with little reward / product value given back.

It isn't sold in shops BECAUSE of it's short shelf life. none of the Tropic products contain toxic chemicals or preservatives so they have a short shelf life compared to the things you find in shops. All of the ingredients are natural and shops like Boots like to hold stock which you cannot do with the fresh, natural Tropic products - the stuff is made fresh when an order comes in. There are no targets to meet and to be an "active" ambassador you merely have to put an order on the system once a year for £1.

I wish people would understand the difference before shaming companies and putting people off. Your friend is fine, and is probably loving being an ambassador - perhaps worry about yourself before worrying about her.

You sound like an MLM hun bot . I don't understand why you wouldn't want preservatives in your cosmetics all the fear mongering surrounding parabens has been debunked a long time ago . Tropic is an MLM .
