Hello

I'm originally trained as a professional (think law type profession) I didn't enjoy my career at all. I have now had 10yrs out and my youngest starts school in Sept...so I'm wondering what's next for me?

I have been working as a tutor and really enjoyed working with the primary age group. Does anyone know if schools take on ad hoc support workers ...on a paid per hour basis ? Or would this be voluntary only?

My dh has a v demanding job and I don't have the best family support so I would like /need to be around for School runs, plays ..after school clubs etc.

Anyone found a similar role ? I thought might contact local private schools too.

Thanks in advance

You might be able to get a TA post but the pay is absolutely abysmal. Think of it as paid work experience to see if you like being in school? Often they're mornings only (you might need your little one to go to a breakfast club). Depending on your area it might be quite hard to find a paid position-lots of people are attracted to the hours and significantly less stress than teaching.

Saying that, if you've been tutoring primary age children, that's a significant point in your favour. Good luck with finding something.
