Bit of a long one sorry!
I am currently going through disciplinary action regarding my annual leave - i gave in my holiday form 4 times, 4 times it was lost! I gave at least 6 weeks notice of my holiday. By the time i came back i was told I would be facing disciplinary action as i did not follow "correct procedure" (In previous years I have had 4 different managers in the space of 3 months who have all given verbal conformation that the holiday form is okay). I have also made a formal grievance about work place bullying ect. I would like to leave asap and have been given a job offer by the NHS subject to references. Could anyone please tell me (in NHS or HR) whether I would get a chance to explain what has happened if this disciplinary is mentioned on my reference?
My other reference is from a family publishing business and therefore a relative would be doing it - is this acceptable?
Sorry this is so long but I am having exceptionally bad anxiety and would appreciate any help! Thank you Smile

I didn't think you were allowed to give a bad reference, and no one from relative won't be accepted x

Yes, you can give a bad reference so long as it's factual. Being disciplined is factual.

I even just gone through NHS checks - took forever even with no complications!

Tell me about it I got a job with them last July and didn't start until October

I don't have a crystal ball, but if you had a good interview and did sufficient to impress them to have received a job offer, (and if they need your skills enough) then I don't see why they would necessarily withdraw their offer.

It depends how negatively your current employer gives their reference and how much they decide to haul you over the coals for a lost holiday request. 4 times lost seems excessive and then to blame you Shock

I would sit tight and see what happens. No point giving your new employers information in advance that may not be needed. Do your current employer have any idea you want to leave? If they give a 'dates and job role reference' as many companies do nowadays, you have nothing to worry about.
