Body Shop at home.

Hi all,

Just looking for a little bit of advice and perhaps a push. I'm looking into selling the Body Shop at home as a way to earn a little extra money while looking after my son during the day. I am able to spare a few hours a day while he naps.

I have had an email from a lady. The starter kit is £45. Includes some Christmas selling too so seems good value for money as dare I say it will soon be upon us 😳

Had anyone any experience at selling the Body Shop. I do like their products and what the Body Shop stands for (no animal testing etc) and I know it's something others like to buy. However after moving my friends etc arnt in the area I now live.
So my question is -

•is it something you can advertise and sell via social media?

•are products/customer orders delivered to you to distribute or are they delivered directly to the customer if requested?

•is there anyone who has done the Body Shop or something similar who can offer any advice or information on it

Thanks

Listen, 'hun',

Anyone can google MLM. Just because you are enjoying it doesn't mean that you can vouch for the others.

ITS A SCAM.

We all know it.

I am sorry you have been hoodwinked. Stop trying to make others believe that it's a decent way to make a living.

It's a pyramid scheme.

TheMonkeyMummy · 03/05/2018 23:33

You cannot speak for 7000 people.

But you can keep trying to pull the wool over other peoples eyes.

MLM's prey on new mums. They are deceitful, underhanded and dishonest. No one makes money from them. £700 a month? Terrible. Count your hours, and try to make a sustainable income from it. It just isn't possible.

You are a tiny cog doing all the work in a big machine with very little if any pay.

I think you can only do these sort of MLMs if you are willing to corner & harass the majority of your friends and family, and become an unlikeable purchase pusher.

I worked at the actual body shop for 7 years, made my way up from a stock assistant on 8 hours a week to a full time manager & the opinion I saw from the retail side of The Body Shop, way up to the top, would not associate themselves with the MLM side through the stores.

To be fair, Body Shop is a real company with a known product. It's not at the scammy end of MLM (it's not weirdly cultlike) but i think you do need to be realistic about how much you would make.

People can buy other than from you as a local distributor, so I think you are (typically) looking at fairly small return. Which might still be worth it for you.

Another thing to check, is there an active Avon lady near you? Because if so, you may well find that the people who like to buy this way already have a supplier.

otornot · 04/05/2018 12:11

The big difference for me is that Body Shop is cruelty free and Avon isn't.

I stopped buying Avon when I realised.

It never occurred to me to look for Body Shop at Home. I went to the nearest shop when I needed some shampoo.

Not sure the point of my post tbh!

TheMonkeyMummy · 04/05/2018 14:31

They are all known companies with actual products. That is how they get their pyramid structured schemes past the law (and claim it isn't a pyramid scheme, but the structure is exactly the same).

I work with new families and have seen the stress these schemes put on their staff. They are all the same, essentially. I hate the tactics used, esp when women are trying to balance parenting and bringing in an income. It is NOT the easy nor ideal solution that it is presented.

But as @Phoebeg1723 said, I had also best go... I am self employed running my own actual business, and also have four small children to attend to. (Not sure how that makes my post any more valid, but hey ho, two can play that game.) Hmm

I'm a consultant with body shop at home guys and I have to say it's brilliant. Some do get a bit "exuberant" with bath selling and recruitment I grant you but I hate all that. I love working for myself on my time and you just earn what you work for. Obviously more hours can mean more commission earned but that's the same for any commission based job!

Happy to answer any questions you have as I had loads before I joint and have never looked back xx
