Would you leave, or stick it out?

I work for a small company, and until recently I have loved it. We now have a new company owner who's been here about a year, who has come from a different sector. He has lots of ideas but no real understanding of our business and capabilities.

I have serious, deep concerns about the direction the business is moving in. This manager is taking us away from our core strengths, making reckless and embarrassing decisions, big time over promising, and consequently we are winning no new contracts at all and have nothing to do. I sat doing the crossword this week.

I have raised my concerns and voiced them increasingly strongly, bordering on being insubordinate, because I genuinely fear for the company's future, but the management simply will not listen to me, or anyone else.

The company relies on me heavily and will struggle if I leave. They have been good to me in the past, and I love the work I do when we have any. But I can't stand by while they destroy this company's reputation and future. I want to help them change and grow but they just won't listen to their workforce's professional advice.

It feels like watching a house burn down. I'm really torn up about it because I care so deeply about this company. I don't want to leave really but I'm beginning to feel like I have no choice.

What would you do?

If they're not listening I would find another job and leave.

start my own business and take the work they are not quoting for.

Definitely time to go, IMO. I understand and respect your feelings of loyalty but if they are all ignoring your concerns, they don't have the same care for you as you do for them. New owners/managers often struggle with long standing employees who express their disapproval of changes too often and too forcefully and if those naysayers don't go of their own accord, they are often "managed out". Jump before you're pushed.

Thanks everyone; this is good advice. I think I've been coming to the sample conclusion myself, but it's not an easy decision at all?, I am going to look into working freelance. I've been thinking about it for a while.
