Giving notice during probation and holiday pay?

Hi, just wanting a bit of advice and perhaps some other perspectives...

So I started a part time retail job in May. I am currently 22 weeks pregnant and knew when starting the job wouldn't get any maternity pay etc so I knew that come September/October we'd be reliant on DHs fairly low wage whatever happens, but that's me going off track....

Basically a horrible new manager has started at work, she almost made me cry the first time she spoke two words to me. I wanted to get my head around my situation so I can decide whether to leave sooner or whether I should wait it out. My probation period ends in august. I feel that my contract won't be extended then because I am pregnant (it would be hard to prove this as the reason!). My notice period is 1 week. From the information I have been given my holiday entitlement is 5 weeks worth of 16hours (I work 4 4 hour shifts a week).

So my questions are:
If I hand in my notice and work my notice week, will I get my holiday pay after I leave?
Am I entitled to this holiday pay even though I have only worked there a short amount of time?
Should I stick it out for as long as possible , hand in my notice just before my probation Is up and get paid holiday pay then since I don't think they will keep me on because of bump?
Does this holiday amount seem accurate as it sounds high to me and I worry someone has got their wires crossed?

Thanks for your help, sorry for any spelling or grammar errors, it's late!

Surely that's the total holiday available in a year for that role? You will probably only be entitled to be paid for any non taken leave which accrued during the period of your employment. Which if you started in May isn't going to be more than a few days.

You will be entitled to and paid any holiday allowance which you've accrued by your leaving date. There's a calculator on the gov.uk website where you can find out how much you'll be owed.

You won't get SMP but are you aware of maternity allowance? You may be entitled to that if you've worked enough weeks over the last year or so before your baby is born.

A full time employee accrues approx 2 days per month of leave. You will accrue less than half of that.

Yes you will only get the pro rated % of the holiday allowance, so May up to the date you leave, so maybe a third, less any you have already taken x

Please remember you are protected from discrimination from Day 1 of your employment. They are legally banned from not keeping you on because of your pregnancy whether it is visible or not.

If you have any proof that they will use your pregnancy against you, I recommend you make notes of it and seek legal advice. For this, and any future employment.

Thanks everyone that makes much more sense now!
I am aware of maternity allowance but will not have been working long enough to receive it even if I work until my due date (due beginning October). Thanks though i think ill have to try and stick it out as long as possible, I know that it'd be impossible to prove they let me go because of bump but if I can I will.
Thanks.

If you only started in may, it's unlikely you've accrued any more than 1 day of paid annual leave, if that. Sorry!

Unless they've got solid performance grounds to dismiss you at the end of your probationary period, they would be very foolish to do so. I would be surprised if they did, most employers are too cautious now to be quite so blatantly discriminatory as to sack a pregnant woman for no good reason.

Hang on until your maternity leave starts. Don't hand in your notice at all. You are entitled to a year's maternity leave, and you continue to accrue holiday throughout the whole of your maternity leave. If it gets to near the end of your maternity leave and you don't want to go back to work, hand your notice in at that point, so that your termination date is the last day of your year maternity leave. You will then be entitled to holiday pay for a year's worth of holiday (plus anything accrued and not taken before your mat leave starts.

If you have been working elsewhere before starting this job you may be entitled to maternity allowance, so do check.

Thanks flowery that's great advice and info. I left my last job in late November due to moving, took time to see family over December and January but then was too sick during early pregnancy to look for work again until April, getting this job in May. According to the .gov calculator I'm not entitled to the allowance. It will be tight but we can manage on DHs pay, and we are getting most things second hand, but yes I think accruing holiday whilst on leave would be best! Thanks again!
