HI. Veffy worried about somethingt that I accepted...5 weeks project round trip to work travel by car - 3 hours. Can I ask the company to reimburse the travel cost (it was not mentioned on teh job offer, though...do not want to be awkward )

It depends - is this a project for your existing employer or a new employer? No way round it but to ask, I'm afraid! If it were a project for a company you're already working for you'll need to check your contract of employment; but I'd expect to be able to claim mileage.

Lots of people commute 1.5 hours each way.
Surely if its a work project you'll get to claim mileage? Or was it something you applied for rather than was asked to do as part of your existing role?

It is not my main employer . It is a sepatate contract in summer. There is no mentionig of covering cost of mileage in contract and job spec, so will need to co er it myself

I would think that's a reasonable commute if it's a professional wage

If its your commute rather than travel between business locations then even if they agreed to pay your mileage (and why should they?) then you'll be taxed on it as a taxable benefit.
