Good Afternoon Everyone,

This is my first post but I'm desperate for some advice. I have 2 children age 6 and 12. I have no support whatsoever and have a 2 hour commute to work each way and work 30 hours. I'm really struggling for childcare as the childcare provider starts after I need to leave for my shift and ends before I get home, there's no opportunity for me to shorten my hours. I'm in a hell of a mess at every school holidays and I have no idea how I'm going to juggle this half term TOMORROW ....if I resign from my job am I able to claim anything? My only option is to set up my own company I think as I work in a location where jobs are extremely difficult to come by 😩..thank you in advance ....apologies for my panicky post xxx

Thank you so much each and every one of you.....I've just put my thinking cap on and made contact with someone locally who has just purchased a business that I have significant experience in. I've got an interview tomorrow night....just talking it through with you lovely people has helped to realign my thought process. The potential of the new job as the manager there would give me the flexibility to work and do what's best for the kids. I have told my manager that I've got issues this week and the attitude was 'This shouldn't be an issue as you said you had childcare' ....ahhhh ....I'm positive I'm doing the right thing. I'm eternally grateful to you all xx

I've always worked and had very good jobs. Being a working parent is so so hard. Being a working parent with no help is crippling ....you always feel like you're on the back foot, always feel guilty to your employer it or worse to your children. I will get this sorted and it looks as though this bad night could of been for a reason as a perfect solution is now achievable zx

Well done for making the first step, I hope everything goes well.

I hope the interview goes well.

If all you need is a bit of wrap around care have you thought about asking the staff at local nurseries, or student baby sitters or a pt nanny? Have you tried any childcare agencies? The staff at my dcs nursery are always v keen to get babysitting work before or after work.
