I applied to be a mystery shopper (through a link in here a long time ago!) and they pay up to £20 per job. Not dependable money though, but nice pocket money.

I also buy Joules, Boden, Fatface, white stuff clothes in charity shops and online and sell them on eBay. You must Scour the shops though and ensure things are immaculate, which takes time but I probably double my investment.

I also do a very small amount of tutoring. It pays well but is harder work and harder to fit in, but I hope to do more once my dc are a bit older.

I have two small children and make money by....having a job!

My dp and I work opposite shifts to minimise childcare bills. Try bar work or 24hr supermarkets.

Waggamamma.
Did you read the op?
Quite clearly asks for ideas for a sahm.

waggamamma- but that's not ideal or desirable for many.

My OH has long unpredictable hours, has always travelled a lot with work often staying away a couple of nights a week, quite often with no notice.
I have no family support, so even working shifts would have been very hard.
Being able to work from home means totally flexible hours, being able to

oops- stop work at the drop of a hat.

I'm with the ICB. I choose them because at the time (Unsure if this still stands) but you didn't need any relevant work experience as well as your qualifications to get a practice license. I'd worked in accounts departments previously but I loved that I didn't have to go back to work to set up.

It took me a few years to become a full MICB, but that's because I was a single mum with no money or time so I studied on and off. It can be done very quickly if you have the time to get your head down. I also did the Self assessment exam as well to enable me to register as a HMRC tax agent and complete clients self assessment tax return- that's a nice little earner too.

I charge £18 per hour but will be putting my prices up to £22 for new clients once I complete my AAT level 3 in accounting diploma at the end of this year.

If you do go for bookkeeping, i'd also recommend really getting to know some software that's you're comfortable with and make sure you know every little nook and cranny of it.

I've got a bookkeeper contact up north and we pass remote work onto each other and just chat about the every day struggles we have and go to each other for advice. It can be quite lonely so making a contact like that is invaluable.

Good luck and let me know if you'd like more info!

mummshorts can I have more info about the data entry? Would be nice to have the odd extra bit of low commitment work if it is low commitment?

What about online tutoring?

There are a few legit non MLM direct selling businesses although all do have start up costs. Still, you do need to do a lot of homework regarding those as very few are the great opportunities they proclaim.
I used to sell on Etsy and if you do it properly you can make some income. Look for books on Craft Business, its not easy but can be rewarding if you love making/developing products.

Trading on Ebay is a really easy side hustle. Buy products at garage sales, sell it on Ebay.
