Has anyone used this website to either look for jobs, rate companies or advertise roles? If so, is it reputable? Would you recommend it?

Need to think outside the box on recruitment & came across this but I hadn't heard of this website before (I'm new to recruitment).

Any other advice for someone new to internal recruitment would be very much appreciated . Thanks!

My own experience of it is that it's often used as an anonymous forum for employees to post grievances.

As such many of the comments get skewed towards the negative.

Certainly if I looked at comments on places I have worked, I'm hard pressed to recognise the culture/issues as described by many posters.

I understand companies have pay a massive annual fee to be able to respond to these claims.

You'd need to confirm if this is true - I heard this anecdotally, but if so it doesn't sound like a hugely ethical business model.

I agree with the above. Staff complaining rather than many positive comments. However they may be worth a conversation whilst you are factfinding.

Hi, I work for Glassdoor. I have some info that might help you out.
With regards to recruitment, check out glassdoor.co.uk/employers. Employers do not have to pay any money to respond to reviews, you can do that with a free employer account.
With regards to staff complaining, it's a common misconception that the reviews are predominantly negative. 72% of employees say that they are ok or satisfied with their jobs and companies. The average company rating is 3.5/5.0.

I found it very useful, but I did bear in mind that a lot of people use it as a place to vent. Just like with Trip Adviser, unless something is mentioned frequently, it's probably just a one-off and in some cases probably there's more than one side to it.

Having been with my employer 15 months I can confirm a lot of the complaints said there were true, which is fine as they were not dealbreakers for me and in some cases were positives from my point of view. It was also a very good way to learn about attitudes to flexible working and core hours (and late working) without flagging up to anyone recruiting me that I may want those things.

It basically made me feel a lot more informed and gave me good questions to ask when I was in the actual interview. So long as you treat it the same as any other review site, it's very useful.

I work in internal recruitment and a good place to start is google the job title and area and have a look at what non genetic job sites come up. I think glass door is a good site for reviews but probably best for entry level type roles. What sort of roles are you recruiting for?

Re the roles, it is a real variety of levels often with quite technical / engineering requirements also.

Engineering jobs can be tricky to fill - I often have to use specialist agencies for those sort of roles

There's a great agency called SCS in Preston (but they recruit for all over) and big agencies like hays and reed often have specific sections that deal with specialist recruitment. I would love a premium LinkedIn account but can't get anyone to shell out the 11.5k for it. PP - is it worth it?

Is LinkedIn Premium 11.5K?

I think there are different levels - if you upgrade your account its £70 a month and you can send 30 messages - for me to send unlimited which is what I would need was 11k but that might be based on the number of roles we need and the size of the organization
