Looking for advice on my work contract as I think it's wrong.

I've been working for the same company now for 8 years.

My old contract stated if the company required you to work extra hours the hours were banked and paid at the end of the financial year either as pay at the overtime rate or taken as holiday. This was separate from overtime, overtime was paid monthly.

Last year I requested a shift pattern changed when my husband started a new job. My new shift pattern is now 2 hour
less per week than my previous job. My money stayed the same and I was given a new contract.

Due to the 2 hour deficit per week I have to work a extra 16 days per year to make up the extra time. I've never questioned this.

I've just had my contract out as I wanted to see what my annual salary was and it says nothing about the extra contracted days.

My contract says wage of £xxxx. My shift times Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 9am-3pm. Working 18 hours per week including breaks.
It states any extra hours worked will be banked and will be paid at the end of the financial year in pay or holiday.

As my contract states my wage at 18 hours per week. And I do 18 hours per week and doesn't mention the extra hours, if I do the extra hours they are to be paid rather than paying back the 2 weekly hours to the company like I have been doing?

I've been reading and reading it and it just doesn't match with what I am doing in regards to the extra hours.

If you are not contracted to do the extra hours and your contract states your current salary and the reduced hours, stop working the extra!

Yes it sounds like an error. But as this was last year and you and your manager have both been proceeding on the basis that your weekly hours reduce but your number of days increases to keep your salary the same, I wouldn't advise now suddenly refusing to do the extra.

Do you get paid for breaks or are they unpaid?
