Claiming JSA or not bother?

"Bob" has been made redundant. He works in a professional field/has relevant qualifications. He is eligible for JSA.

I mean this with absolutely no disrespect to anyone, but would he then be required to spend the vast majority of his time applying for unsuitable vacancies below his skillset and income bracket (£35-45k) via the job centre for his £70-odd a week?

He would otherwise be using specialist recruitment agencies in his line of work which should find him appropriate employment faster.

(I see you can claim NI credits without applying for JSA so that issue is covered either way.)

If he is in UK and he wants to claim job seekers allowance or universal credit he will have an interview and he will provide his CV etc so he has to prove he is applying at his skill level and attend job centre once a week. There is an online journal to fill in

If he has unemployment insurance then he needs to make a claim at the job Centre as part of the process.
You don't have to use their job ads. Absolutely fine to use other recruitment companies.
