I returned to work on Monday and had a return to work interview yesterday. I got asked if I was breastfeeding to which I said yes but only evening and morning. He then told me as I was breast feeding a risk assesment needed doing. WHY????

Because you may letdown and leak milk on your pc and it could burst into flames??
Don't know how it would be seen as a risk tbh. What sort of environment do you work in?

It's for your benefit - to assess whether your job poses a risk to your baby.

Have a look here

Sounds like the place where I am doing some work at the moment - risk assessed to the hilt. As soon as you are pregnant you have to be "risk assessed".

I imagine there is a sheet somewhere that has assessed the implications of mothers expressing at work? Somehwere comfortable and private to do so/somewhere suitable to store milk

I'm guessing, but it (surely) can be the only thing?

Slow typing as usual - Raspberry had it beautifully sewn up whilst I was hammering away at the keyboard

Wow, it's great that your company are thinking of you and are bothered to do a risk assessment.

It will cover things like expressing at work (so you don't get engorged and have the opportunity to give your baby ebm, your working hours, are they too long so you are away from your baby too long or can;t do morning and evening feeds, whether there are any health implications to your baby if you donlt have the opportunity to express etc etc.
