Hi all just wondering what you fellow mums think. I'm a vet nurse working 3 full days a week and have a 1 year old who her nan has 1 day a week and the other 2 she's goes to nursery. as well as my 3 working days I am on call every other Wednesday sometimes more, the last few times I have been called out and been out of the house for 4/5 hours during the night and then been called out again late morning. my partner goes to work at around 7am every morning.
I am stressed at knowing I'm on call pregnant and with a small child, and nobody in the work place has ever approached me to ask if I'm ok, happy with this. should I push to stop the on call and just do my 3 days and is it even legal to be on call during pregnancy?

You need to have a dialogue about this asap with your line manager, instead of waiting for them to approach you. Is the issue about being on call that you're worrying that you could potentially have no one around to look after your baby, depending on the time of the call out?
Or are you not getting enough rest?
Pretty sure it is legal to be on call during pregnancy, that's the nature of certain jobs :(
Will you lose out financially if you drop the on call?

Yes it's legal for you to be on call.

I am a vet owning my own practice and have had pregnant nurses. Has a risk assessment been done in particularly considering X-Ray's, lifting and gaseous anaesthesia?
Yes it is legal to be on-call, but consideration should be made for the above situations. My nurses have all continue to be on call, but we had additional back up nurse available should there be situations covered in the risk assessment in particular lifting heavy dogs.
