Unsociable Hours Payments for Part-time NHS

Hi I have just been offered a job as a HCA working 34.5 hours per week which would be classed as part-time. Am I entitled to unsociable hours payments if I work at the weekend etc?

Yes of course. Part time workers and usually treated exactly the same. It is usually time and a third for a weekday night duty or hours after 8pm and saturdays. Time and two thirds for sunday hours and bank holidays. Good luck in your new job.

Also the NHS pension is one of the best around and sick pay and annual leave usually good too.

Yes but be aware that this payment may be taken away in the not so distant future. Jeremy hunt is making noises about it and it's widely expected he will announce plans soon.

But if it does get taken away it's likely that there will have to be some sort of increase in basic hourly rate. But it won't be enough to compensate for most people.

Thanks for your replies and setting my mind at ease. I checked the NHS handbook but it wasn't clear as it's all based around full-time hours. I am extremely nervous as it's a complete change of career after working in an office for 27 years but I'm looking forward to learning new things. Just wish the pay was better. Thanks once again.
