I am a sahm mum and recently went for a job interview to do home care. I have been a hairdresser for 13 years and after selling my salon I wanted a less stressful more part time job, the company told me I was unsuccessful. Then 2 weeks later they email and tell me they have made a dreadful mistake and would like me to join the team. So I went yesterday to sort dbs etc. The lady who I saw obviously didn't like me as soon as she saw me and was quite rude and kept saying things to put me off the job. Saying the hours I'd have to do would be a lot more than I was contacted to, if I didn't work for them for a certain amount of time I'd have to pay them a substantial amount of money if I didn't work for a certain period of time etc. She also heard me talking to the manager on my first interview and I explained I could only do certain days as would need childcare, but insisted I had to do a full weeks training 9-5.30 which is impossible for me to organise this amount of childcare. So when I got home I talked to my partner and decided to decline the job offer. Although they had already got all my details to run a dbs etc. The manager has emailed me this morning asking for my reasons so I have explained what I've said above. Will I need to pay for the dbs etc? Advice please

No - the company should be paying for the DBS anyway

Ok thanks I feel bad but I wouldn't want to let them down in the future. Do my reasons sound ok for declining the job?

Your reasons sound fine.
TBH this company sounds totally disorganised, for eg the interview processShockwow!!
You've been straight with them from the off about what days/times you are available whereas the same cannot be said for this company.
Also, FWIW my employers always pay for the DBS.

Thanks very much for putting my mind at ease. Thought they might try to be funny with me.
