My other thread about negotiating job offers got me thinking. I'm so terribly British I don't really know what even my friends are on. But I'm interested to find out what the average on here is and if mine fits in. So here's my salary history.

First job: £16k
Second job: £12k, left on £19k (took a pay cut for a more interesting job)
Third job: Started on £25k, leaving on £35k
New job: £38k

I'm in the media.

What's yours?

$60k as executive director of a non profit. Work from home full time but can be as flexible as i need so can get round the supermarket at 9am but catch up with work in the evening when the kids are in bed. Absolutely love my job too.

PlymouthMaid1 · 13/12/2016 23:25

Major underachiever as on £19500 pro rata as a teacher for a private company.

kitkat321 · 13/12/2016 23:25

£57k + bonus (circa 5k to 7k). Working as a VP in finance.

Banking industry generally pays well - I don't think I'd get a similar salary in any other industry so I stay put.

I earn 28k self employed so not sure what that equates to pre tax in an employed position. I work between 4 and 6 hours a day usually for that.

IamNotDarling · 13/12/2016 23:38

2004 - grad £17.5k
2009 - qualified £42k
2016 - one promotion later £59k

Public sector in specialist legal role, long hours, travel and huge responsibilities.

Babyroobs · 14/12/2016 00:07

Currently earn about £20k part time as a Nurse ( that includes unsocial hours payments). I am about to take a drastic pay cut for a hopefully less stressful job with regular hours. Will continue to do some Nursing bank shifts to mae up the difference.

frikadela01 · 14/12/2016 00:12

£23,000 band 5 nurse. Looking for a band 6 role that isn't in management but the trusts around me are downgrading band 6 roles to band 5s so I'm not hopeful.

SocksRock · 14/12/2016 00:18

£24k per year for 20 hours a week (FTE £45k) as a senior engineer for a local authority. Sadly I'm employed by an outsourcing company so no LA pension, but I have a lot of flexibility.

I graduated in 2001 and earnt £21k. Went up to about £38k 6/7 years after but then I had three kids in 5 years and I haven't worked full time since. I doubt my salary will go much higher as I don't want to move to management and I'm as high as it goes now for technical staff.

SlipperyLizard · 24/12/2016 15:31

Started on 16.5k in 1999, left in 2001 for 18.5k. Worked up to 30k in that job, then moved for 36k. Worked up to £75k in that job, then moved for £95k, still there now.

catwoman0815 · 24/12/2016 17:52

15k for 20h (enhanced admin role)

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 24/12/2016 18:08

32k, work in middle management at a UK tourist attraction owned by a charity . V lucky to earn what I do in our industry, plus I utterly love my job.

hugoagogo · 24/12/2016 18:14

Christ alive! I was happier not knowing.
£11000 a year part time.

wowbutter · 24/12/2016 18:15

My job is 22400 for full time, I am not full time...

Beebeeeight · 24/12/2016 18:15

Min wage p/t jobs as student

1st post grad job £17k
2 years later moved to similar job in better paid org think it was £22k temp post though so the next year was back to £19k in job with better prospects
Which worked as next job was £25k

Then did extra qualifications which put me up to £31k

Currently £33k which will rise plus have good pension at last!

I realise I'm lucky and if I hadn't had the opportunity to study more I would've stuck around the £20-25k mark forever!

But even that's better than zero hours/min wage mummy track

Stingray2008 · 24/12/2016 18:15

12000 for 25hrs a week

Ginmakesitallok · 24/12/2016 18:19

gunting · 24/12/2016 18:19

Started as an apprentice when I was 19 - £9,000
20 - £16k
21 - £18k
22 - £21k
23 - £25k

TwoGunslingers · 24/12/2016 18:20

65,000 - barrister (wouldn't recommend it)

SallyGinnamon · 24/12/2016 18:21

At my height I earned over £70k with car, non-contributory pension etc twenty years ago as a manager in pharmaceuticals. Now I'm earning £18k in a bank!

Major life reorganisation as highly paid job meant missing too many things in life including DS's first birthday and being able to buy fancy hols and 'stuff' really wasn't worth it. Packed in and became SAHM and discovered uk camping!

Tootsieglitterballs · 24/12/2016 18:21

Before I quit to become a SAHM, I was on 23k working stupidly long & stressful hours as an events manager in a hotel

Grindelwaldswand · 24/12/2016 18:22

About £16k working part time in Retail

eurochick · 24/12/2016 18:24

Started as a paralegal on 14.5k in 1999
Got my first qualified lawyer job in the uk after working abroad for a while in 2002 - 60k
After a few years I moved to a new role at just over 100k.
Now a partner and on a bit more than that.

NotDavidTennant · 24/12/2016 18:25

I work in scientific research for a University.

My first job post-PhD paid about £22k.

10 years in I'm on about £38k but am almost at the top of the salary scale for my current role.

TwoGunslingers · 24/12/2016 18:26

You got a newly qualified lawyer role at £60k ? Wink
