Career change???

I fancy a career change sooooo badly!! Ultimately I would like to earn more money (currently earning around £35k working full time) I work in social care and ideally would like to exit as I will end up with mental health problems if I don't!!
Social care is all I know as I have been doing it for the past 20 years.
I am quite open to studying for up to 3 years but not more than that as I do need an income after that. I'm 39 and I'm feeling it's now or never!!

Sorry I should have clarified why I'm posting!! I really want some suggestions from other people... I think since I've worked in social care forever I'm struggling to think outside of it.

Hi, am going through something similar the now. Instead of thinking what job you want to do, think about what you enjoy doing, what you are passionate/love.

Once I thought about it like that I decided I wanted to do a combined History/Philosophy degree, as for jobs there are a few now I would like to do but am going to be spending the next 5 years studying so there is no rush to decide what I am going to do with the rest of my life :) I will have options and that's more than I have now. A degree gives you lots of experiences and skills that make you employable in many sectors. If you have some work experience and qualifications already you may be able to do another degree with year 2 entry in 3 years.

Sometimes when you are in that place you can't see a light at the end of the tunnel or any alternatives to what you do now. Try asking yourself a it in a different way, instead of what career do I want to do, ask what do I enjoy doing (there will be something, even if it's reading a book, doing a cross word, you will do something purely because you enjoy/love it) and then go look up courses/jobs related (even remotely) to that.

BTW it's scary but also exhilarating to feel like you are taking back control of your life.

Good Luck
