You can def explain away one CV blip. I think employers are well able to understand a personality or organisational culture clash and the best policy is just to be honest.

On the other hand are they able to just sack her without going through a formal process? Eg formal verbal and written warnings. Have they given her previous examples of her non team behaviour and given her time to rectify it?

Sounds a bit dodgy and as if she has been badly treated, maybe one for constructive dismissal anyway.

Contract terminated due to changes in department structure (sort of covers her or me thing)

She can get the organisation to change to to a compromise agreement. So she doesn't take it any further re: not following processes and constructive dismissal and they don't call it sacking.
So they mutally agreed that she explore other options or one of those euphemistic terms.

That way she can just say, she wasn't happy in the org and needed a bigger/new challenge.

If she has only been there for 6 months she can't claim unfair dismissal (only constructive if you resign) unless its one of the discrimination headings such as race, sex, disability, religion or sexual orientation, age etc.

it would still be good practice (but not necessary under law) to follow the 3 step statutory dismissal procedure. Its very easy for companies to get rid of people like this but at least they have paid her notice and waived the fee.

I think lowfatmilkshakes suggestion for a reason would cover it - change to dept structure
