Worried

I work in the NHS and have done for 7 months - I had my appraisal today. One of the points brought up was that my manager and supervisor had heard feedback from other members of the team that I am abrupt and have made people feel inferior. I obviously make sure at work that I am respectful, positive and friendly, so this came as a shock to me. I certainly have never considered myself as someone who was abrupt or rude at work.

I identified one time where i came across as rude (I apologised immediately after I said this as I realised it might have been seen as rude: and I have constantly thought about it since the incident).

I can't think of any other times where I may have been abrupt. I believe that I have made my colleagues feel this way - but am finding it difficult to figure out how. My supervisor said that we have to review in 3 months and if it hasn't been figured out, we could go down the "capability route"; obviously this has scared me as I don't know what I'm doing wrong. It's never been mentioned before and I have regular supervision (2 supervision sessions every 4 weeks).

I guess just some examples of abruptness that have been difficult in your workplace or how you've overcome being abrupt would be useful for me.
