OMG OMG OMG I'm so very very excited

Oh my goodness, I am so so so excited, i can hardly breathe.

I started a job last week, 5 days a week, 5 hours a day, its great, i like the girls etc, but, i'm aware it's only temporary. I applied for and got the job within 3 days.

I applied for many more jobs before that, one of which was my ideal, in the nhs, never thinking I stood so much as a chance. Well, I got an interview yesterday, it went well and I've just been called back, the lady who interviewed me said that she cannot offer me the position as the team leader is off on holiday today, but, she would like to go in on 26th for an hour to have a look round where i would be working and meet the staff, and, if I get on with the team leader, it's mine.

I am beside myself

It's doing EXACTLY what I'm qualified to do

FAB hours, ideal for school, 9.30 start and I finish before school ends, and every fri, sat and sunday off.

AND although it's 7 hours less than what I'm doing now, its more money.

Just hope nothing goes wrong

But, what do I say to the people that I am working for at the minute? My new job would be an immediate start, do I have to work notice?

Thanks mellow, it's customer co-ordinator, I've just figured out the wage and it's nearly double what i'm on now.

Don't get me wrong, i'm not slating where I am now, but, it's a job that needs no real qualification skills, its temporary and the manangement are badly organised which means alot more running about for me.

OMG

Being able to go see my mates band on a thurs without not worrying about getting up early

Working for the NHS

Go girl, sounds like there's no real decision to make here other than how to get out of the current job if you get on ok with getting the new one. I hope you get it.
First things first, check out what notice you'd have to give. Do you have a contract at all?

wey-hey!! Check out your contract - should tell you notice period...sure NHS one will wait a bit anyway, since you're clearly so fab

Radley · 15/02/2007 11:28

I;ve not signed a contract or anything yet, they haven't even got my bank details or anything yet.

Congratulations!
I was in exactly the same position as you a couple of years ago - temp job 20 miles away from home and then a few weeks in I found I'd got my ideal (NHS) job which paid more and was 5 mins from home!
If you've got the temp job through an agency you normally only have to give 1 week notice.
But the NHS might also agree to wait so you can give them a bit more notice - say 2 weeks. That way you're making the point you're not leaving them in the lurch.
