Starting a Dyslexia Tuition Centre - where do I begin?

I am qualified teacher and have taught in both primary and secondary. I have also recently qualified to provide specialist tuition and also to assess for Dyslexia. I have always done 1:1 tutoring - however it is not that cost effective as I travel to pupils' homes. I am thinking of setting up to do after school small group tuition - possibly organising the groups into KS1, 2 & 3 with a maximum of 4-6 children in each group. I would hope to do some assessments for Dyslexia during the day.

I have no idea how to set up or how to find out whether there is a market for this - as a 1:1 tutor, I turn away clients, but this is slightly different. I know people who do this successfully in London, but I live fairly rurally.

Any suggestions and advice would be really helpful.

As far as I'm aware isn't only educational psychologusts who can make assessment for dyslexia. As in one's that the schools will listen too?

My dd is dyslexic and has benefited greatly from 1:1 tuition with an excellent dyslexic speciallest. She has post graduate qualifications in Ed psych. She works in a local dyslexia support centre alongside other specialist tutors. There are long waiting lists.

I would suggest doing similar. My dd has tuition and touch typing lessons.

I am in a similar position to you - I am currently completing my level 5 OCT (SpLD diploma) and due to start level 7 assessing in September. I want to work for myself and am just trying to work out the best way to go about it.
Having spoken to my tutors at the dyslexia centre where I am studying, they suggest contacting all the schools directly, explaining the services you are offerring and an idea of how it would work. Ask to meet with the school senco - if they have enough children and it would be cost effective, they may let you run a group in the school itself. Alternatively, ask if you can put flyers in school book bags or alternatively advertise in a magazine that is circulated around the schools (such as the Families magazine) stating your service and asking people to register an interest if they would like to receive updates - that way you will know if there is a demand for this.
In regards to tutoring 1-on-1 and assessing, how much do you currently charge for this? I am finding that working privately, other SpLD teachers are charging £35-50 per hour in my area (Surrey) one-on-one but that schools often run sessions for pairs of students and charge less (although I am not sure how this would work as students are always of different abilities). How much do independent assessors charge?
I am sure through small group work you will pick up extra assessing jobs.
