Is a HR interview at the final stage of selection good or bad news?

Hi, my other half has been through two stages of an interview process, including a face to face interview panel. He assumed the last interview was the final stage, however he was been asked to go in again for a HR interview. Is that good news or bad news?

The job would mean quite a big move for us, hence my urgency to know whether it'll be on the cards or not. And what do these HR interviews at this final stage consist of?

In my experience rejection is done remotely, candidates arent brought in to HR to be rejected.

Does the role include relocation? When I went for an expat role the last stage was a meeting with HR to confirm all the details of the expat package.

Thanks! Yes it's a relocation, though it is a new company, and not the place he is currently working for. Is this when he should negotiate too? Any tips?

Salary will probably be fairly fixed by this stage. The employer will have a range they are prepared to pay. It may be possible to negotiate more but that could be at the expense of pay rise later.

The relocation package may be more negotiable. Things to consider are:

• allowance for additional expenses eg new curtains
• full service removal incl packing and unpacking (costs a bomb but worth every penny)
• all expenses associated with getting your new home (eg solicitors, estate agent, arrangement fees etc)
• housing visit expenses (eg hotel costs)
• temporary housing/company flat

My deal was expat so in fact my employer had far more experience than I did and various things were covered which I hadnt thought of.

So far as removal expenses are concerned dont be tempted to take an allowance, move yourselves with a van and pocket the difference. At a stressful time having someone else doing all the packing/unpacking will be far less stressful and exhausting than attempting to do it yourselves.
