hi, me again on the employment issues topic.
i started working at current job pt nearly a year ago. in dec my role was redundant i was offered another one. However, with this came the fact i had to change my days -to something i struggled to sort out. I have now settled dd back into nursery on another day.
earlier this week, i was told i need to do extra unpaid overtime one week in 3 on my new day. I said i would struggle to do this as need to leave work at 530 latest to pick dd up in time for nursery closing at 545.
i am back in work tomorrow and know it will be mentioned again but i need to come up with some more points. i have already said dh cannot pick dd up.
incidentally, the role i was doing before has now been re-instated and a previouos colleague i worked with is doing that job again.
also i have been expected to take on more roles - some of which are not really me - eg reception
i feel i am being pushed out of the company.
what does anyone else think?
any help for me?
TIA
itsme
x

I don't think any employer can legally ask you to do unpaid overtime, I'm sure someone will come along and confirm that for you.

Do you have a job description current or historic ? If not I think you should ask for one and see what it says.

It sounds horrible for you and I hope you get it all sorted out.

Agree with RookieMum - can't see how they can make you. Also, I would check with ACAS as to where you stand with regards to your old job being re-instated after you were made redundant. Sounds a bit ? to me. Good Luck

Oooh! I think a trip to CAB may be in order. They made you redundant and then took on someone else to do your old job? Doesn't sound right. And that apart from the overtime.

Hopefully someone with a bit more legal knowledge will be along soon.

Don't let them walk all over you...good luck!

'They made you redundant and then took on someone else to do your old job' - that happened to me too - although I accepted voluntary redundancy after being given a choice of that or a crappy job that I didn't want with hours that didn;t suit.
I guess if I persued it they would say something along the lines of 're-evaluating how the business has changed over recent months blah blah blah'

it's not acceptable for them to insist on unpaid overtime, though your contract may give them the right to insist on overtime given reasonable notice.

sounds like you would have a possible claim for constructive dismissal if they insist on this - effectively it's a unilateral reduction in wages. if the job otherwise suits you though, you may be better off fighting it out.....

hi all. never received a job description for my new role; so its a little vague. new tasks get added every week. i will ask tomorrow when i go in for a new one.
about the redundancy - there were 3 of us doing the same role. 1 full time member of staff and 2 part timers (me and 1 more) the person who did the role full time now does the role again but "with changes" as you would expect.... incidentally during the time i did the first role, the other 2 people got bonuses. when i found it out, i asked if there was a bonus and was told not for this role. I was fuming but know i have little rights not having been there a year.
will try ACAS and CAB. thanks for the suggestions
I'm as i was sacked when i was pregnant with dd and beginning to feel im pretty crap at work nowadays.
