social media management - how much to charge?

I manage a couple of social media accounts on a freelance basis, and am also responsible for web content writing, and copywriting of newsletters and leaflets. I had no SM experience when I started, so accepted a low hourly rate.
With a year's experience for 2 different companies, what's the going rate?

I (marketing freelancer that outsources quite a bit) have seen people charge from £10ph to £50! I would say that it prob depends on what the client can afford for new clients and what you need to earn. I am in London but the ppl I have worked with have been all over the show. The cheaper ppl tend to charge by the hour, so even though they are cheap they round up. I have a fairly high hourly rate (working in my niche) but I only charge for what I work, which feels fairer on clients.

I would suggest between £20 - £30 ph would be a good middle ground? And personally speaking I would want somebody to earn a 'proper' amount both ethically and I'd also worry they'll give up freelancing and get a job if they are earning too little. Also I think that sort of rate says you are worth employing etc.

My day rate is 150 for 7 hrs. But I think I'm going to up it to 200 in the New Year for any new clients. I had general comms experience when I started but now am a year in.

My day rate is 400. But the social media stuff is only part of what I do, I work in a very specialised niche and have decades of relevant experience.

A younger person would charge much less.

Thanks very much - really helpful and lots to think about. My background is book editing, so I reckon clients are getting a good deal as a lot of those skills are transferable to web editing.
