now that the age discrimination laws have come into effect, do people put their ages on cvs?

I didn't when I did my CV - I was advised it wasn't neccessary

I've never put my age on. It's easily workable out anyway from your education and employment history.

southeastastra · 06/02/2007 19:14

oh thanks! will whip my age off mine pronto!

You do not need to put your age on a CV although it can be worked out by your employment dates. When you are employed they will require your age to enter you into the risk benefit programmes plus if you are going for a job which needs security clearance or a crb check you will need to give your age for that

Legally - you don't need to put dates eg when you passed exams (eg A -Levels which would pinpoint your age) or even other jobs.

You definitely shouldn't put your DOB on

southeastastra · 07/02/2007 12:04

so i don't have to put any dates at all? what about companies own application forms, they always ask for dates?

When we were trying to recruit the CV's from agencies were almost impossible because there were no dates. Personally, I don't think putting the dates of your jobs is wrong - it can often help in fact as employers can vary over time and you want to show you were there in the good years!

I would not put DOB because their internal HR may have a problem with that (being risk averse!) as it opens them up to a risk.
