Chilminder returning to work tomorrow

Hi all
I'm back to work Tommorow after having my baby 11 months ago
Iv chosen to use a childminder that I have met and she seems fab and a lovely lady but I can't help but feel so sad :( leaving my little one for the first time ever :( also my first time using a CM so very nervous has Any 1 had positive experiences with childminders ? Did it take a while got you to get use to the idea?

Dd1 went to nursery for 4 weeks at 11months and turned into a very sad little girl - my happy little giggle pot was gone so I knew something wasn't right. I thought it was me leaving her etc but we discovered a number of minor things about the nursery we were really unhappy with. We changed to a cm and dd was back to herself again. Best thing we ever did. Dd is now 8 and still remembers her cm fondly.

Aw that's really lovely I didn't want to use a nursery due to the ratio of staff to children / babies and wanted a more one to one care as little one is shy but I'm glad to hear your daughter is now back to her self :)

Totally positive experience with our CM. DD had extreme separation anxiety when I returned to work. I didn't feel nursery was an option as I could not see her settling there. The home from home smaller setting with the CM has worked out really well. She takes mindees to play centres every day so they do socialise with other kids. She looks after DS as well now although he is a totally different child and would be fine at nursery we prefer the CM route. DD actually starts school nursery this month and our CM has helped us 'prep' her for it.

I had my first day back to work today and my cm was great kept me updated every few hours along with pics I think I definitely picked the right one and dd loved it so great so far

My dc went to a variety of CMs - all those that gave up CMing were for valid reasons Grin, and then we moved house, and different schools, etc.....

They were ALL fantastic. My dc (now 20, 17, and 14) have really fond memories of ALL of them, and are still in touch with 2 of them now.

IMVHO, it is the nearest thing to being at home with you, and by far and away the best place for a baby to be when you are at work.

Because they were all so happy, I never gave them a 2nd thought when at work. You get into routine very quickly.

Thanks for sharing yes your right it's better than a nursery I think nursery is more considered for older children not babies

It's not better than nursery, it's just different. When you're childminder is ill and you're scrabbling around for emergency childcare, just think you'll never have that problem at a nursery!

Also a childminder is in fact better for MY child :)

I agree cm more suited to a babies needs then a nursery. More one to one. Nursery fine for older children.
How did your little one settle?
