I've just been phoned for an interview as a cook in a nursery kitchen

I don't have the qualifications, but, i do like cooking and have a fussy household.

I'm both dreading and excited about getting back to work, but I would like some help please

What should I wear?
Will it go against me that i'm over 21st? Hubby and best mate say I'm daft thinking that)
What questions should I ask?

I'll be getting 5.50ph, but this is a step in the right direction isn't it?

We took on a new cook at our nursery who lived locally but didn't have all the right qualifications, but we realised she was very keen to learn and was dependable. She's been brilliant and is always trying new things on the menus. Take along a few ideas and look up some sample menus on google to show you're keen. and wear something smart but comfortable..I don't know why but most people still wear skirts for interviews. Also google some health & safety stuff if you can.

Just make sure you look reasonably smart and organised. Would have thought organisation and cleanliness would be two key skills in working as a cook.

Don't see why age would matter.

Questions? Hmm... Would you be the only cook or working under someone else? (Probably depends on how big the nursery is, but worth checking.) How do they structure their food during the day at the moment? Do they have a fixed, rotating menu? Would you have the scope to suggest changes to the menu? Do they cook all the food from scratch? What processes do they have in place at the moment for catering for different dietary requirements/allergies?

Other than that, if it is a permanent position, holiday, other benefits (you might get discounted childcare if you have children of that age!), etc.

HTH.
