Job to fit round 3 kids!

Hi everyone,

My maternity allowance has now ended, and my partner works shifts. I need some other source of income - so its back to the job hunting! I have a 7 & a 6 year old, and a 6 month old. Been looking for part time jobs for weeks and having absolutely no joy.. 10am-2pm term time etc... does anybody have any ideas of what i could do to balance the work/ homelife? i have noone to call on to mind kids whilst i go to work so it would have to be either home based work or term time... so the childcare fees wont be through the roof...so limited.. please help

What sort of thing do you want to do?

A friend of mine in a similar situation set herself up as a cleaner. She only works when she wants to and makes decent money now she has built up a client base.

Thats a great idea! I'm open to all suggestions. I used to work in facilities management but the hours aren't right anymore.

To be honest, if you want job satisfaction I think you need to be aiming for something that enables you as a family to afford to pay for a bit of childcare - not necessarily full time. Something that gives you scope for progression in the future. That may not be what you want at the moment of course

Yes, it's hard for families isn't it. Just not sure how much help we are entitled too for childcare as if I go back I'll have to find before and after school club and a childminder for baby and then someone to mind all 3 of them In the school holidays. My partner is on a low income but works full time and any ot that is offered. I just wanted to contribute in some way and we have a bit more money.

A childminder would have all three children, which would enable you to work from say 8-6. It may cost a lot but it is the experience you need to get back on the ladder x x x

Hi my borough 'herts' has school catering jobs for lunchtimes cooking and or assisting in kitchens,as a single mum if I did this I would receive working tax credit as its over 16 hrs per wk ,they would also pay 70% of my childcare I think,good luck
