Feel free to move this if its in the wrong place but I think I have it right. After a few years in bar work doing unreasonable hours I finally found a decent job that I adore doing in November last year. I work for a corporate catering company that is hired by an office in my town. So I work for a company that works for a company. Today after lunch service the area manager who was helping out in the kitchen asked if he could have a word and someone in the office (not someone I work with) has emailed the area manager saying they have an issue with me and so I have been suspended on full pay.

The area manager has had his laptop all day so if this was sent last week then I would have been suspended this morning not at 2:45 in the afternoon which means its something I have done today but I can not think what I have done. I shitting bricks I love this job and frankly i will not find another one like it. They are investigating but neither me or the area manager have any idea what I have done to upset whoever it is.

You've been treated shockingly bad. I hope the meeting proves its all a fuss over nothing.

CrazyDuchess · 14/07/2016 13:33

hope it all goes ok OP

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2016 13:33

Thanks for clarifying red hat. That seems really unpleasant :(

VioletBam · 14/07/2016 13:57

OP whatever they say, don't panic. If it's not true you don't need to believe they can just sack you. Tribunals exist for a reason.

fastdaytears · 14/07/2016 14:00

Thinking of you OP. This does all sound crazy.

redhat · 14/07/2016 14:14

Without wishing to upset the OP further I'm afraid that simply isn't true violet. Those with less than two years' service can be dismissed for any reason as long as it isn't discriminatory (or a couple of other very limited reasons). The OP could be sacked for example because her manager thinks her hair looks rubbish or because she drives a blue car. She would have no claim in a tribunal.

Had mu meeting and it didn't go well. I have had problems with 3 people (wanting food short notice, changing numbers etc last minute) and they hate me so it was them that wanted me out of the building so I can't go back there. The area manager is wanting me to do a similar job in a different venue (he's really happy with my work and doesn't agree with this situation) problem is its in a school so it won't start till September until then all he can offer me is potwashing 15hours a week. On the plus side I still get paid for the work I have done plus an extra month so not the end of the world

Ah so these people are from the business the catering is for? That's much easier as you can move to another site as suggested.

You have you manager's support- that's the main thing

bigsuze87 · 14/07/2016 17:40

I know he's really happy with my kitchen work which is awesome because I have no real kitchen experience before this job.

Sorry that you're going through this and glad your meeting is over. Hope you go onto a much better place!

bigsuze87 · 14/07/2016 18:30

I am very disappointed that it happened this way but the three people that wanted me out are awful people anyway so up their arse its unreal. Area manager said he would be happy to provide a glowing reference if I find something outside the company (he doesn't want me to leave but understands 15hr week isn't great even if it is only for 6 weeks or so)
