Interviews: Do you have your favourites already decided before you interview?

I would be really interested to know your experiences of holding interviews as I'm trying to work out if I have a chance in heck for the one I have tomorrow!

Firstly, say you had four vacancies, how many interviews would you hold?

And, is your mind pretty much made up on the basis of the application form and the interview is there just to confirm it? Do you already have your favourites in mind before you even meet them?

Thanks Smile

We would tend to try to interview 6 for every vacancy. And as others have said, your favourite on paper often isn't the one who gets through. A couple of times we have given it to someone who may lack something we were looking for, but came across so well and who we thought was worth the investment of having to train them up more because they would be so much better at the end. And you do naturally always have an eye on who would fit best into your existing team. There's little point hiring someone who you don't think is going to work well with the others. It's not an exact science by any stretch.

Good luck! BrewCake

Just had a phone call. They've only gone and offered me the blinking job!
