"Reason for leaving job" - what to put?? I can't tell the truth...

I am leaving current job as have been seriously sexaully harrassed for the last 6 months. Although the person in question should be getting sacked I don't want to ever go back.

What other reason could I put on application forms as to why leaving current job - am applying for a different sector of work?

New challenge wanted?

Really sorry to hear about this- awful that you have no redress and can only move on.

Yes its an ongoing investigation but I think he's about to be sacked. ITs not a very big company and I don't want to walk round the building with Sexual harrassment sticker on my head. AT least thats how i feel. Just feel like i need a new start and forget about it.

Is this to go on your cv or for your new employer? Or has your current employer asked for the reason? If the latter, then put the truth. If the former, put that you are expanding your skills and seeking a new challenge.

Looking for new opportunities.

Focus on the aspects of hte new job.

For example, I'm applying for a job that is entirely investigative and then writing reports.

I don't do anything of that in my current role, so under 'reason for leaving' there's going to be a lot of emphasis on how I am seeking the opportunity to [insert duties of new job].

The real reason? It's boring arse, low-paid pile of dung and my boss is a moo.

Yes, the ol' 'new challenges', opportunity to match my skill set to this unique and challenging role, etc.

expatinscotland · 22/01/2007 09:26

Not, 'I'm going potty! Someone get me the fuck outta here!'

Personal reasons
Family committments
New challenges/opportunities

happynewme · 22/01/2007 09:34

Expat are we applying for the same job?!! Well if you are in Scotland we're not anyway but sounds similar!

New challenge it is then.

Thanks for help all.

I wouldn't use 'personal reasons' b/c to me it opens a Pandora's box just when you least desire it.

Read the duties list carefully and tailor the 'challenges' you are seeking to match what they're wanting.

It's all about them and what you can do for them.
