Does DH need Professional Indemnity Insurance?

This is currently costing DH £1200 a year but he has recently been told he doesn't need it.

He is a contractor working solely for a major company so would he be protected under their wing?

Many thanks for your help in advance

I think the only way you would know is by asking the company he is working for.
It is possible that the company he works for might prefer to bring a claim against your DH rather than claim under their own insurance in which case you wouldn't be protected.
But an open chat with them night certain help make things clearer for you.

Sounds like he is really an employee under the guise of being self employed so company saves money

Personally I would keep the insurance, if he makes a cock up of anything which costs them will they happily take the hit or claim off him ?

Is it worth the potential risk of loosing everything for saving £1200 a year ?

He needs to check his contract with them - I would suspect that he is required to have his own PI

It has been a condition of every contract I've held that I have PII.

If he only works for one company, I hope they are making very sure they're not falling foul of IR35 rules

Thanks all. What is an IR35 rule Lynda?
