How many years is it acceptable to not get a pay rise for?

The company dh works for have YET again announced no pay rises this year - it's the third year in a row, so essentially a pay cut with inflation. Am very -

They have rubbish benefits as well - no paternity leave when ds2 was born last year, 20 days holiday a year, plus 3 at Xmas.

I would find that unacceptabel TBH - minimum payrise should be the cost of living increase

The problem is dh loves the people he works with, and loves his job, except the pay!

is the firm in trouble?

they will lose staff if they don't sort that.

i think its reasonable and realistic for payrises over and above inflation to be discretionary and performance-related though.

Have a friend in a similar situation and her dh loves is job too. Loving your job is very valuable and hard for your dh to put a price on it. I would be surprised if he left it tbh unless it is low paid.

Thanks for replies - you're right, it's more important that he enjoys his job than earns massive amounts (and tbh I couldn't be doing with lots of money anyway), but it's hard when you're getting progessively worse off. Company isn't in trouble, just small company with crap management.

Oh well, will just grit our teeth and get on with it I guess!
