If you are self employed - what do you do?

I am trying to get out of my current job to get away from the long hours, pay ceiling and my desire for autonomy. My main goal is to find something to do that is school hours friendly. I'm looking for ideas. Please can you help me by telling me what you do for a living?

I'm a virtual assistant. I've a mix of clients from PPH, TimeEtc and privately sourced. It's taken time to build up and often people aren't reliable, want more than they're willing to pay for, or just disappear. Which isn't so bad on TimeEtc when you still get paid.

I sell crochet items through Etsy. It works around my disability and my children.

Interior designer (brave to admit it on here!), from space planner jobs (for a build services consultancy) right through to the soft furnishings......

I've been a SAHM for the last 3 and a half years, but before kids I worked in ecommerce, web content and copywriting. I've been running blogs and doing affiliate marketing on the side, which makes a bit of money.
However, I recently combined my web skills and my passion for animals and set up a pet sitting and dog walking business 2 weeks ago. Combined with my knowledge of websites, SEO and social media, I already rank well on Google and customers are starting to contact me.

The only downside at the moment is having preschool children that I need to fit around work. So far I haven't paid for any extra childcare than the free 15 hours, but I think now with more work coming in I may need to.

I'm a copy-editor and proofreader. Have a look at www.sfep.org.uk for more info.

I'm Self Employed. I'm a blogger first and foremost and then I do a lot of side hustling on the side like Matched Betting, Market Research and Surveys.
