Bank Nurse Interview - please help

Next week I have an interview for the nurse bank (band 5) within an inner city hospital. It is a very long time since I had an interview for a general nursing post and I am wanting to prepare as much as possible. I am wondering if anyone has had any experience of these interviews more recently and could give me an idea of the questions asked please?

I have many years experience but have been in a specialised role for the past 8 years. I will read up on the Trust I am applying at, inc their Values etc.

What else might they ask?
In the old days it was "strengths and weaknesses".
Do they give scenarios?

Any insight into what sort of questions are now asked would be gratefully received and thanks in advance for any help.

I thought interviews for "public services" were competency based these days? I had an interview for bank dentist job a hundred years ago and tbh they were pretty desperate to get me on board so we just chatted about what we would do in certain scenarios.

Competency based sounds like something the NHS would /should do. I wonder what it entails!!

I really hope they are desperate for staff also. I don't mind a scenario (or 4) as at least I can usually see a way forward with those.

Competency based is where they select some competencies from a framework e.g. (made up example) Delivering an outcome whilst under time pressure. They then say "tell us about a time when you worked under time pressure. It's all about talking about how good YOU are, not your team. That sort of thing. You can use the same example for several competencies if it's relevant...

Disclaimer, the NHS may not be the same as the civil service where I have been recruiting most recently...

Ah I see - thank you. That makes sense and thinking along those lines then makes me think of my experience and what I can bring to the role.
