Totally self-pitying, left it to the last minute, tax return thread

Waaaaaah! Every year I leave it till the last minute (and I know this isn't strictly speaking the last minute and some of you cheeky monkeys will be leaving it even later!).

Why do I do it to myself, why?

For allowable expenses and all that,
please do have a look at my old ebay "Me Page" linked up thread - it was the work of lots and lots of accountants and many, many years - the core information is still rock solid

Iv just submitted my husbands RELIEF! Says he's due a repayment due to contractors deducting too much. That will be payment to me for doing this for him!

all of my CIS boys do theirs really early to get the thousands of pounds they are owed as quick as possible

It's done and paid, didn't owe much, can start working out next years...

I've worked most of it out but need my laptop back from DD to add all the numbers online.

Mine's done now too-yay! I've even been good and started sorting stuff out for next year's one.

Mine too about 30 minutes in the end. It was the worrying about not being able to sign in that took weeks.

Three years ago, I had to do mine in December as I needed proof of earnings in order to rent a house when I left ExDH. Getting it done ahead of time is quite a revelation! 31 January becomes a day for smugness, not panic. I swore that I would get it never, ever leave it until the last minute again.

God knows if I did it right but they're sending me £30. Am employed (standard tax code) and also turned a tiny profit on self employment, so was expecting to owe them...

Talkinpeace, yip my brother in law, stepfather and couple of his trade friends all do the same. We don't bother. Would rather have it I'm January than April.

buy why would you want the Revenue to have your money interest free for ten months?

Never thought of it like that I suppose. Was planning on doing this year's in April anyway so will defo do it and get the cash back sooner.
