Considering a career change out of the NHS

I'm a qualified nurse working as a manager in the NHS (8a if that means anything to anybody). I am thinking of walking away from it all and want to get some career advice.

My gut thoughts are to look at some of the big consultancy firms or similar? But then again I think should I go and work somewhere totally different?

I can afford to take a little bit of a salary cut, but not huge. Where do I start? Where can I get grown up careers advice?

That's really interesting blobbityblob, thank you.
Would you (or anyone) have any idea where would be best to look into a course like that?

I used to be a District Nurse but got out by doing Clinical Pharmacology work and then moved to a university to work in their Disabled Students section.
Only one friend remains in nursing now - so glad I got out when I did.

Surely your pension is transferable or still claimable when you do retire. If you get a new job, you just start a new pension to complement it.

Hattie I don't know if you need the degree or not. But if you google occupational health nurse courses UK you can see what's in your area. I know the South Bank University does a course but not sure where else.

If you also google home working occupational health nurse jobs/vacancies you can get an idea of what's needed. I'm not sure whether employers would train you on the job or not.

Thank you Blobbity - that link is a great place for me to get started.
Hopefully I don't need the degree - 24 years of experience but of course that meant an RGN qualification rather than degree.

I am pretty close to South Bank so another good place to start looking.

Thanks again.
