NHSGGc post

Hi, I have worked with NHS for 5 years but have continuously been with same health board (Lanarkshire). I have been conditionally offered new post within another health board (my current ward was dangerous and I was miserable and this new job is specialising). I know you shouldn't hand in your notice until you have the official contract but I was so miserable I waited 3 weeks then handed in my 4 week notice. I am now due to finish and don't have a start date yet. I can do bank in between but just wondered if anyone had any experience with NHSGGc and their time frames? I got told via telephone call same day as interview I was preferred candidate and received paper work to return two days later and this was posted same day I received it. The biggest delay was my reference from lead nurse. I contacted them on Wednesday and they said everything was received and was wth the recruiting managers. From this stage to receiving contract and getting start date does anyone know roughly how long this takes? Sorry for long post just know I have been silly and just curious of everyone's experiences. Things go much quicker with Lanarkshire. Thanks

Things can be slow with all the boards unfortunately. Quite a few colleagues of mine have left recently and it seems to be PVG etc that's been causing the hold ups. Most have started in new place approx 3 months after confirmation of job.
Hope things start to move quickly for you

PVG aim to be done within 14 days now. That was back really quick for me. With Lanarkshire the longest I waited between interview and start date was 3 weeks, Glasgow have confirmed they have everything and it's with managers so hoping it's not much longer! Thanks for reply

To anyone in same position, on Thursday I was told was with recruiting managers and today (Monday) I got contacted with start date so once information returned it actually isn't too long.

In my current NHS trust it's about 3 months, but a big chunk of that is because they insist on re-doing a CRB check on everyone they hire (even if they've only recently had one done, and / or are a current employee). Awaiting references can be a big cause of delays too.

By the way if you can, can you delay leaving your current job? I only say this as under NHS jobs if you have more than a 1 week gap between permanent NHS jobs you will lose your 'number of years service' benefits. Seems a shame to miss out on any extra annual leave requirements (or potential redundancy monies) just for the sake of a few extra weeks.

I didn't delay it but I am only 3 weeks between old job and new job and I am still employed and working with Nhs staff bank during these weeks so that shouldn't effect my length of service. (I hope!) I got an updated PVG in the post on the Wednesday and my interview was the Friday and at interview I had to fill in an update PVG form, such a waste of money! But PVG aim to complete and return within fortnight now so that should hopefully make a big difference for everyone!

Oh I just seen you said between permanent jobs, I'll need to look into that and see if bank counts. Because it is permanent but as and when required. Does anyone else know if this counts? Thanks
